چکیده
Phytophthora capsici Leon. is the main pathogen that limits production of peppers. In this study, effects 1 and 10 mM proline (Pro), prior to exposure resistant (CM-334) susceptible (SD-8) pepper seedlings P. , on some physiological parameters were investigated. A lower Pro concentration (1 mM) was found be more effective than in increasing stress tolerance CM-334 cultivar. Namely, cultivar, highest chlorophyll a b carotenoid, glucose fructose content 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity percentage detected seventh day after application + while lowest malondialdehyde (MDA) amount measured third same treatment. The ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) increase determined application. treatments SD-8 cultivar somewhat differed; amounts anthocyanins, fructose, total protein endogenous application, MDA DPPH % FRAP values with Although differences between cultivars, against general resulted positive effect photosynthetic pigments, soluble carbohydrates capacity pepper. exogenous helped non-resistant overcome stress.

Differential activation of defense-related genes in susceptible and resistant pepper cultivars infected with Phytophthora capsici.
This study investigated the expression pattern of genes encoding for a basic PR-1 protein, a basic beta-1,3-glucanase, a peroxidase, and a sesquiterpene cyclase involved in defense responses in three pepper cultivars with different levels of resistance to Phytophthora capsici. All genes were up-regulated in infected stems of the pepper cultivars, with expression being detected 8h post-inoculati...
متن کاملMorphological and Physiological Responses of Euonymus (Euonymus japonicas) to Exogenous Paclobutrazol under Salinity Stress
Paclobutrazol (PBZ) is one of the most important triazole compounds. This compound increases plant tolerance to environmental stresses. A study aimed to investigate the effects of PBZ on morphological and biochemical traits of euonymus (Euonymus japonicas) exposed to NaCl stress. Plants were treated with three levels of PBZ (0, 500 and 1000 mg L-1) and four levels of NaCl (0...
متن کاملGenetic determinants of the defense response of resistant and susceptible pepper (Capsicum annuum) cultivars infected with Phytophthora capsici (Oomycetes; Pythiaceae).
Based on culture isolation and morphological observation blight-infected pepper plants in Shaanxi Province, China, we identified the pathogen causing pepper phytophthora blight as Phytophthora capsici. Varieties that differed in resistance (CM334, PBC602, and B27) were inoculated with this pathogen. The root activity of resistant CM334 variety was the highest while that of susceptible B27 varie...
متن کاملMolecular responses of Phytophthora capsici-challenged cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) plants as influenced by resistance inducer application
Phytophthora species are considered as the major cause of several plant diseases resulting in huge yield losses in agricultural crops. Despite years of effort to develop Phytophthora resistance varieties, there is no reports of a resistant cucumber variety. In this study, the effect of concomitant application of potassium phosphite (KPhi) and chitosan on some physiological and molecular respons...
متن کاملBABA and Phytophthora nicotianae Induce Resistance to Phytophthora capsici in Chile Pepper (Capsicum annuum)
Induced resistance in plants is a systemic response to certain microorganisms or chemicals that enhances basal defense responses during subsequent plant infection by pathogens. Inoculation of chile pepper with zoospores of non-host Phytophthora nicotianae or the chemical elicitor beta-aminobutyric acid (BABA) significantly inhibited foliar blight caused by Phytophthora capsici. Tissue extract a...
